J&A design is ranked as the 31st design firm in Interior Design Magazine “100 giants”. Our firm is currently seeking a intermediate to advanced level Registered Architect to join us.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Oversees Consultants and Local Architect of Record (AOR)
  • Technical coordination of project
  • Conduct code analyses, and be the primary point of contact with jurisdictions
  • Document coordination, design detailing
  • Maintain the Project Manual, and edit specifications as required
  • Conduct on-site observations, prepare Architect’s field reports as needed
  • Submittal reviews during construction, maintain RFI and submittal logs
  • Involvement in all phases of the design process including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and knowledge of construction administration
  • Development of architectural design, space plans, pricing plans, specifications of products and materials
  • Design charettes and field verifications
  • resolves design issues and analyses design options
  • Close collaboration with design team, clients, consultants, contractors and vendors
  • Meeting deadlines for deliverables

Qualified candidates must possess:

  • 10+ years experience
  • Strong AutoCAD skills and Revit experience
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited school of design or architecture
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes and accessibility requirements in China
  • Proficiency with SketchUp
  • LEED accreditation a plus
  • Able to communicate in English and Chinese

Responsibilities:

  • Lead design team through all phases of interior projects including guiding, advising, and mentoring other designers on projects, developing design direction and leading design critiques/forums
  • Act as primary design interface with clients
  • Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination
  • Collaborate on interiors projects, including programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development, and management of budgets and schedules
  • Participate in business development and marketing efforts

The ideal candidate must meet the following qualifications to be considered:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture, LEED accreditation, and 15+ years of diverse interiors experience, including experience in a leadership role
  • Prior experience in corporate/workplace interiors required
  • Ability to work in a team environment with good collaboration skills
  • Excellent presentation abilities
  • A mix of strategic and creative bent, with ability to create great form while embracing sound business strategy
  • Passionate about design and able to be the design inspiration for multiple highly-creative project teams
  • Experience directing and providing leadership for design teams from business development presentations through developing strategy and design concepts
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skills
  • Ability to provide critical design review to design teams, communicating design ideas and direction quickly
  • Demonstrated success building, nurturing and fostering new client relationships
  • Ability to work closely with design directors across the firm to promote an inter-disciplinary design approach and philosophy, and to facilitate its advancement across the firm
